THE STORY PROJECT

Stories that connect us

In Irish mythology, the Salmon of Knowledge gained the wisdom of the world after eating nine hazelnuts that had fallen into the River Boyne. When Fionn Mac Cumhaill burnt his finger cooking this salmon, sucking it to ease the pain, he inherited all its wisdom and gained the knowledge of the world. We see stories in much the same way as those nine magic hazelnuts. Stories are seeds. Their roots connect us to the knowledge and experiences of those who went before us. We continue to share stories to pass on what matters most and to connect us to those around us. Long before books or screens, this is how knowledge travelled.... through people, shared by word of mouth.

The Story Project exists to help keep that tradition alive.
We gather stories, and we share them in a format suited to today.
Through simple, unhurried conversations, we sit with people and listen. Personal memories.
Stories passed down. Moments that shaped how someone sees the world. The big stories
and the quiet ones, the funny stories and the ones that hold wisdom.

Each conversation explores a simple idea. Stories help us understand who we are and what is important to us. Filmed in a calm, recognisable style with no distractions, The Story Project creates a space where stories are shared and kept alive.

At a time when life moves fast and attention is scattered, we believe these stories matter
more than ever. Furthermore, we hope they spark an interest in people to revisit the stories
and traditions of their own families, friends and communities, thus keeping them alive for
those who come after us.

Tell Us a Story
If you know a story worth sharing, we’d love to hear about it.
It might be your own. It might belong to someone else.
It might be a life shaped by experience, a way of seeing the world, a connection to place or
community, or simply a gift for telling a good story.

If it feels like something that should be heard, it probably is.
